Dinosaur Days Review

Jenny/ February 9, 2018/ Homeschool Reviews

When I found this homeschool curriculum I was so excited!  My son is CRAZY about dinosaurs & WinterPromise Publishing’s Dinosaur Days is incredible!  So I contacted them and was given the Dinosaur Days Science Guide & Student Notebook ebook versions.  You can also get this bundle in print and have it mailed to you šŸ™‚  However, the e-version is so handy because you get it right then!  This curriculum is designed for 2nd-6th graders and is adaptable for less independence or more depending on your needs.

So what’s included?  In this version you get downloadable Science Guide which is 49 pages long & able to be printed in black & white to save toner.  It has complete lesson plans for the full course (36 weeks) including Read & Complete, Dinosaur Days Notebook & Activity or Experiment for each day, saving you loads of time in preparation!

You also get a Student Notebook which is so amazing!  This is a 268 page notebook full of facts, fun experiments & activities to complete. You can print this double-sided but do need to print at least part in color.  You will learn about each day of Creation, simple machines and how to make your own & of course DINOSAURS!  A huge section is dedicated to each type of dinosaur where you will learn all about it, its habits and you get to practice your artistry by drawing each type of dinosaur.  It looks like so much fun and a great way to get your kids interested in Science, Math, History, Geography & Art.

We started this as soon as we got it and on the first day we learned about Light and how it travels, looks and how our eyes see.  We had a fun little activity where we studied the behaviors of light.  We made a rainbow the next day since the sun was shining with a glass of water, sunny window & a white piece of paper.  Jakob really liked the first day!

I’m trying to narrow down what I am looking most forward to in this study and I’m having a hard time because it all looks so interesting.  However, I am most excited about building a water cycle & learning about each of the dinosaurs & getting to be a paleontologist! (Yes, there’s a section on that too!)  What kid interested in dinosaurs would not love that?

They do recommend you have some supplemental books along with this program.  They are Dinosaurs-Marvels of God’s Design, Dinosaurs for Kids & The Fossil Book.  I was able to purchase these online (some were used) for under $35 or you can purchase a whole package on their site with the books included!

These are some pictures I took from set below šŸ™‚

I printed the Student Notebook double-sided and put it in a 3-ring binder.

Here’s a look inside at how the sky gets its color & the one we’re going to work on today:  catching air.  We get to make a paper helicopter to show how air works!  How neat is that?

Jake was peeking ahead at the star movements!

Remember to check back with us as I will have continuing reviews on this as we go through it!  And we’re going to have a GIVEAWAY!

disclaimer:  I received these materials free for my fair & honest review.  I am not an affiliate of WinterPromise Publishing.
